Deteriorating Golf Course Nestled on 36 Acres of Scottsdale Property

The issue of what to do with the deteriorating Coronado Golf Course first reached the Scottsdale, Arizona City Council while searching for a location on which to build the $23 million Scottsdale training facility for the San Francisco Giants in 2004.

The 36 acres of city owned Scottsdale property on which the golf course sits would have been ideal for the large new facility, but faced with strong neighborhood opposition, the council decided to move the training facility to Scottsdale property near the city stadium.

The city now needs to find a new operator for the gold course, but their´s one problem, "the eight acres of the course that holds [sic.] the parking, clubhouse, cart storage and two of the nine holes is [sic.] owned by" businessman Eric Planeta. Planeta is asking for exclusive negotiating rights over the Scottsdale property, but the council went ahead and sent out a bid request at the end of August.

However, if the results of the bid request turn out the same as the council´s June request for proposals, to which there wasn´t a single response, Planeta may be left in charge of this Scottsdale property by October 15 when the current lease expires.
