Terravita

Terravita is an 823-acre, guard-gated, golf course community in Northeastern Scottsdale that has attracted a diverse population of full-time and part-time residents.

In creating Terravita, the planners and developers took the already strict Scottsdale building guidelines another step, adopting a single-story architectural design that features non-reflective flat tile roofs, and building materials that blend with the desert backdrop. Buyers can also select such lifestyle options as casitas, pools and spas.

There are more than a dozen home models and a variety of lot sizes in the various Terravita neighborhoods. Prices start around $200,000 and go up to $700,000. Smaller homes offer around 1,385 square feet of living space. The largest are around 3,700 square feet.

Landscaping at Terravita adheres to a "Xeriscaping" philosophy, using drought-tolerant plantings that are approved for desert conditions. Most of the homes back up to open space, or the golf course. The community's neighborhoods are within walking distance of the grocery stores and retail shops at Terravita Marketplace. Six miles of walking/jogging trails connect all the neighborhoods and social areas of the community.

A full golf membership at Terravita is about $65,000. In addition to a 32,000-square-foot clubhouse, Terravita recreation offerings include a fully equipped health and fitness center and a separate swimming and tennis center.

The health and fitness center is professionally staffed and even offers childcare. The center has state-of-the-art cardio equipment, fitness stations, free weights and an aerobics facility. Members can also enjoy a steam, dry sauna or a massage. The swim and tennis center includes a lap pool, a lagoon-style pool and five tennis courts.

Every Terravita homeowner becomes a Community Association member. The association fee covers common area maintenance, landscaping, and repair and upkeep of the streets, as well as security services.
